Regina's Z-Ring chain has been subjected to extensive laboratory and road testing, which confirms that its lifespan is at least as long, if not longer, than that of a conventional, regularly lubricated Z-Ring chain. A special feature of this chain is the coating with tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), one of the most advanced coatings from the group of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the bushings and rollers and reduces energy losses while increasing efficiency in the secondary drive.

The combination of extremely high hardness of the coated surface and a low coefficient of friction leads to improved performance. Additionally, eliminating the need for chain cleaning and lubricant spraying during operation helps minimize environmental impact.
