Complete 40th Anniversary Conversion Kit in Classic G/S Style

The R 40th Anniversary Kit visually returns the R 1200 GS to the origins of the G/S without sacrificing comfort or rideability. According to the manufacturer, the conversion takes approximately two hours, does not permanently modify any original parts and can be returned to the original configuration at any time. The headlight, oil cooler and front fairing do not need to be replaced for this version.

Tank Covers

The pair of matte black tank covers is made from special resin with carbon-fiber reinforcements. It is supplied painted and finished with graphics and a transparent protective coating.

• Complete with holes, screws, rubber buffers, rear mounting bracket and machined bushings for front mounting
• Right side panel can be quickly removed for air-filter maintenance
• Rear mounting bracket with slot for attaching a tank bag
• The original side-mounted R 1200 GS logo is transferred from the motorcycle or purchased separately through the official spare-parts distributor

The motorcycle's five original clips and the supplied M5 × 12 mm button-head screws are used for the upper connection of the two covers. The original pointed M5 screws must not be used for this purpose, as they may damage the tank.

Seat

• Available in standard or lowered versions and in various colors
• Seat height of the lowered version: 82 cm above the ground
• Narrower and rounder than the original seat, so the rider's legs are spread less widely
• Seating surfaces made from high-frequency-embossed synthetic leather
• Hand-stitched sides with cotton thread

• The original lock and therefore the vehicle key are retained

Side Panels and Side Covers

• Lightweight, matte black side panels with R 120 G/S decals and a transparent finish
• Installation without modifications to the motorcycle
• Mounting hardware, rubber components, screws and transparent adhesive frame protection are included
• Designed for ADV bag frames and the brackets offered by Unit Garage for original Vario plastic panniers
• Additional lightweight side covers in an aluminum color with a matte finish
• The side covers attach to the original mounting points; inserts and mounting screws are included

Rear Fender

• Lightweight version in matte black with a transparent finish
• Holes for pannier frames
• Attaches to the original mounting points
• Includes taillight with bulb and wiring for the original connector
• No modification to the electrical system required
• Grommets for turn-signal cables and screws are included

The original mounts for the Vario plastic panniers cannot be installed directly on the kit. The original Vario plastic panniers can be used with the separately available brackets from Unit Garage. The original R 1200 GS logo for the rear fender is not included in the kit.

Luggage Rack and Tank Strap

• Steel luggage rack with highly durable powder coating
• Installation with aluminum spacers and original screws

• Full-grain leather tank strap, stitched with nylon thread and handcrafted in Italy
• The tank strap conceals the joint between the tank covers and serves to attach optional accessories

Installation and Reversal

The kit is installed without permanently modifying the original parts. Some components intentionally left original must be transferred from the motorcycle. The motorcycle can later be returned to its original configuration.

Compatibility

Suitable for R 1200 GS models from model years 2004 to 2012; available for the periods 2004–2007 and 2008–2012. On the Adventure model, installation is only possible if the original plastic tank is replaced with the original plastic tank from the R 1200 GS model. Original ADV aluminum panniers with metal frames can still be used. Product details are continuously improved; images may therefore show an earlier version.
