DUCATI 821 MONSTER [2019-2020] - Motorcycle chain

The Regina 525 HPE Z-ring chain with rivet link sets new standards in the performance and durability of motorcycle chains. This innovative chain does not require regular relubrication, which makes it particularly low-maintenance. Motorcyclists benefit from significant time and cost savings as the usual lubrication every 1,000 km is no longer necessary.

Extensive testing in the laboratory and on the road has proven that the durability of the HPE chain is at least as high, if not higher, than that of a conventional, regularly lubricated Z-ring chain. A special feature of this chain is the coating with Tetrahedral Amorphous Carbon (ta-C), one of the most advanced DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the bushings and rollers and ensures a reduction in energy losses and increased efficiency in the secondary drive.

The very high hardness of the coated surface combined with a low coefficient of friction leads to optimized performance. Additionally, the elimination of chain cleaning and lubricant splash during operation minimizes environmental impact. The development of this innovative coating process was carried out through intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
